I’ll be turning 60 this year and I don’t know about you but I have no plans to retire for at least another 10 years! According to the U.S. Department of Labor, by the year 2020, 55% of the workers will be over 55. That’s really quite remarkable. Really interesting infographic! It is definitely more common for workers to work past their 60th birthday. The fact that 55% of the workforce will be over 55 by 2020 is astonishing! When you look at some of the greatest entrepreneurs in history though, it is not surprising that older people are still working and excelling at their jobs. For example, John Pemberton, founder of Coca-Cola, was 55 when he set up the company that would become one of the world’s biggest brands. Some of the world’s most inspirational entrepreneurs running Fortune 500 companies are in their 80s – both Warren Buffet and Rupert Murdoch come to mind.
Inspiring! Perhaps there’s still hope for those of us baby boomers who are worried about retirement funds. 🙂
