UPDATE 9/01/2020 See the bottom of this article for places to find recipes!
Well, first of all, I have to confess that cooking is already fun for me! I love testing out new recipes, trying new and unusual ingredients, making sauces and soups and all the things. Chopping vegetables is like meditation to me.
We just finished installing a new gas range (FINALLY switched from electric after living here 4 years). Now I’ve learned of this new 3-in-1 microwave combination by Breville which is available at Best Buy and it’s going right on my wish list! This microwave lets you air fry (think crunchy fries, Brussel sprouts, fish – at up to 75% less fat), bake or roast (whole chickens, lasagna, chocolate brownies) or simply just microwave with even heat distribution. Now you can do just about all of your cooking in a microwave if you want to. (If you’re a caregiver, this would be perfect for a parent or loved one’s private quarters. It would be much safer and more convenient than an oven/range.)
The Breville Combi Wave has a variety of cooking programs to fit your needs: defrost, reheat, fish, bacon, popcorn, pizza, rice, chicken, meat, cake and butter/chocolate.
There are 3 different pre-sets that you can choose: Smart Cook, Smart Reheat & Smart Defrost, each of which is very intuitive. The convection technology is great because it uses a fan to circulate heat during the cooking process, effectively minimizing the number of hot spots and cold spots. It also has a PowerGrill – a Grilling element that cooks crispy food, (including pizza!) by using 1100W of grill power.
And if you’re like me, in a rush to get somewhere after dinner, Divaz practice, for instance, no worries! The “Fast Combi” function of the Combi Wave 2-in-1 is designed to cook your favorite dishes faster by using Microwave, Convection Oven and Grilling to achieve the desired temperature and perfect results in less time.
Powered by the Element iQ system, smart algorithms steer power to where and when it’s needed to create the ideal cooking environment.
The Power Smoothing™ Inverter gives you precise & even heat distribution, reheating & cooking dishes evenly for more delicious results.
I also like that The Combi has an 80% quieter soft-close door – so no more microwave slams to wake someone up when I’m reheating my coffee for the 5th time! It’s also 50% quieter while in operation.
It’s a good size too – a 1.1 cubic feet interior. And it comes in a stainless steel casing which is more apt to match your current appliances (but not the 1980s gold electric oven which we just ditched!).
If you are thinking about trying the Breville Combi Wave 3-in-1 Microwave head on over to Best Buy to check it out for yourself! Let me know what you think! When was the last time you purchased a new microwave?

My microwave is 27 years old. Not even kidding. But, it still works!
I wish I had known about this as last week I purchased a toaster oven/air fryer combo. This probably would have solved ALL of my needs!
Do you have any favorite recipes for the air fryer technology?
Oh darn! I wish you had known too! I can’t believe your microwave is still working after 27 years! That’s amazing!
Unfortunately, I don’t have any recipes yet as this Breville Combi is still on my wish list! Hopefully, after Christmas you’ll see some!
Shelley,
This sounds like an amazing microwave oven!
Perfect for apartment living or small kitchens!
Hugs,
Robin
I think this product is a waste of money. We have the new combi, and I’m so disappointed by the air-fry feature. I wish we would have just purchased their air fryer-convection oven instead of the combi. As a microwave it works fine. I like the slow closed door and that it’s not loud, but the rest is blah. I hate that I have to just guess at all recipes and that they don’t have a baseline for anything, nor have they developed a cookbook for those of us who don’t want to use trial and error. For $500, our money would have been better spent elsewhere.
Well, that’s disappointing to hear, Brandy. Have you asked about a refund or exchange? That’s a lot of money to spend and not be happy with the product. Glad to hear that you’re happy with the quiet features though.
I haven’t looked at any recipes for air fryer yet! I haven’t even looked for Instapot recipes and I bought it over 2 years ago!
Ditto Brandi Leggett. Thankfully I kept my Breville toaster oven and now only use the new one as a microwave. I’ve had it since it first came out and find NO recipes or cooking help. Extremely disappointed.
Well, darn! Hate hearing that! I’m glad that you kept your toaster oven! Using your new one as a microwave, do you find it quieter? That may be a benefit for those working from home these days.
I should have recognized a red flag when I researched the Breville Combi and realized there were no/very few recipes. I bought it anyway- it is a decent microwave. Yes, it is quieter, but so what? The noise of a microwave has never been a particular annoyance. I am a big fan of Breville products, but the Combi is a disappointment and comes under the heading of “what was I thinking?” For me, the issue is all the great sounding features and so little guidance in how to use them!
I am disappointed that there are not basic recipes using the functions which are so new to me. Trial and error? Too intimidating and time wasting, possibly food wasting, too. So many buttons, so little guidance! Should the body of the oven feel warm outside after microwaving or not? It does.
Have already wasted time browsing the net and this is the first site that suggest it might offer some decent recipes. Show me, or tell me, or provide basic function instruction.
I keep hearing this! How sad that they are not making it obvious that there are recipes on their website.
